Warsaw, Poland – Poland’s former defense minister has confirmed that the country’s defense industry is not yet ready for full cooperation with Ukraine. He cited challenges related to production capacity, supply chains, and the industrial infrastructure needed to meet the requirements of an expanded defense partnership.
The former official explained that providing military support to Ukraine requires significant investment in upgrading weapons and ammunition factories. Furthermore, production capacity must be increased to meet the growing needs of the ongoing conflict. He emphasized that achieving this goal will require time and broader coordination between governments and defense companies.
He added that European defense industries, including Poland’s, are facing increasing pressure due to rising demand for equipment and ammunition. This poses challenges to implementing long-term cooperation programs with Kyiv without compromising the needs of national armed forces.
These statements come as Poland continues to provide political and military support to Ukraine. Meanwhile, other European countries are striving to strengthen their defense capabilities and increase military production to address the security challenges posed by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
