  • Characterizing the Attacks: A “Crime Requiring Accountability”
  • A Firm Stance: Full Solidarity with National Sovereignty

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, condemned in the strongest terms the Iranian attacks that targeted the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Council characterized these aggressions as a “highly dangerous escalation” and a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, amidst the ongoing security tensions in the region.

Characterizing the Attacks: A “Crime Requiring Accountability”

In an official statement, Al-Budaiwi confirmed that the Iranian attacks specifically targeted critical infrastructure and civilian facilities in all three countries, resulting in injuries among civilian workers in Kuwait. The GCC maintained that such direct targeting of civilian installations constitutes a “crime” that demands international accountability, as it represents a flagrant breach of international norms and charters designed to protect civilian safety.

A Firm Stance: Full Solidarity with National Sovereignty

The Council reaffirmed its unified stance alongside Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, expressing full support for all measures taken by these nations to protect their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The GCC emphasized its categorical rejection of any external aggression that threatens regional stability or undermines efforts to bolster regional security.

Call to the International Community: The Secretary-General warned that the continuation of these violations undermines regional security and intensifies tensions. He called upon the international community to act immediately, fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities, take a firm stance to halt these violations, and ensure respect for national sovereignty and the protection of civilian infrastructure.
