Beirut, Lebanon – In a field move reflecting progress in the security arrangements process in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Army has begun its field deployment in the town of “Faroun,” coinciding with the announcement by diplomatic sources that Lebanon has agreed to the participation of European countries in the verification mechanism for experimental areas. These developments are based on a working paper submitted by the Lebanese Army command, which has formed the basis for the ongoing movements on the ground to strengthen security measures and enhance field monitoring.
Approval of European Participation and Activation of Verification Mechanism
A diplomatic source explained in statements to Sky News Arabia that Lebanese authorities have officially agreed to the participation of any European country within the verification mechanism for the experimental areas. This step aims to support the implementation of security measures and enhance the transparency and effectiveness of field monitoring mechanisms, reflecting the coordination between Lebanon and international partners to ensure stability in the south within the agreed-upon frameworks.
Field and Judicial Procedures in Faroun
Regarding field operations in the town of Faroun, the source indicated that inspections of private property will be carried out over the coming days in close cooperation with the Lebanese judiciary to ensure that procedures are implemented in accordance with approved legal frameworks and respect for the rule of law. These steps are an integral part of a comprehensive, gradual plan adopted by the Lebanese Army to expand its presence in a number of southern towns, in full coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the security and safety of the region.
Gradual Deployment Plan Including Additional Southern Towns
The operational plan involves the deployment of the Lebanese Army according to specific temporal and field phases. The next phase will see forces moving to the town of Zoutar Al-Gharbiya, followed by deployment in the town of Ghandouriyeh, then the town of Qalaway, followed by the town of Burj Qalaway, and finally reaching the town of Srifa. These operations fall within the gradual security arrangements whose implementation process is being closely monitored diplomatically and internationally, amidst persistent efforts to consolidate stability and strengthen the presence of the Lebanese state in the south of the country.
