  • No Signs of Sensitive Data Breach

Johannesburg, Kenya – The Kenyan government has announced the launch of an official and comprehensive investigation into a cybersecurity incident that targeted the official website of the President. Authorities confirmed in a statement that preliminary investigations have not yet revealed any unauthorized access to sensitive data, nor have they found any evidence of leaks or loss of official information. Specialized teams are currently working to fully restore the website to service.

Activation of Cyber Security Protocols

The Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy explained that the government’s Information and Communications Technology Authority detected the incident immediately and promptly activated established cybersecurity response protocols. These measures included imposing temporary access restrictions on the presidential website to contain the technical issue, secure the digital environment, and provide technical teams with the necessary space to conduct their investigation. The Ministry emphasized that specialized teams have implemented precise technical measures to limit any potential impact of the incident, while efforts continue to restore the website to normal operations.

No Signs of Sensitive Data Breach

In a related context, the Minister of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, William Kapujo Gitao, reassured citizens through a statement posted on the “X” platform, confirming that there is no evidence to support the hypothesis that sensitive data has been compromised or leaked. The Minister indicated that all government systems and digital services associated with the presidential infrastructure continue to operate securely and stably, explaining that technical assessments remain ongoing to ensure the integrity of all systems linked to the presidential website.

Comprehensive Technical Investigation: The Information and Communications Technology Authority is collaborating with relevant government entities and technical partners to conduct a comprehensive technical investigation aimed at determining the nature of the incident, understanding how it occurred, and measuring its impact on the government’s digital infrastructure. Kenyan authorities assert that the results of this investigation will strengthen cybersecurity strategies and elevate protection for government platforms, ensuring the continuity of digital services and the protection of official data from future cyber threats.
