Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Army affirmed in an official statement that it will not permit any security breaches or threats to civil peace through uncalculated actions or road blockages. Furthermore, it stated it would also prevent assaults on public and private property, in response to calls for demonstrations in Beirut and several other regions.

The Army explained that its units continue to perform their duties in maintaining security and stability. Moreover, it stressed that necessary measures are being taken to prevent any acts that could threaten public order or damage property.

Commitment

The Lebanese Army stressed in its statement that maintaining security is an absolute priority. This is especially true amid the delicate circumstances the country is currently experiencing.

The military command affirmed that it will deal firmly with any violations that disturb public order. In addition, it emphasized that the military institution acts as a shield against all threats to civil peace.

These directives come as part of a field deployment plan aimed at controlling the security situation. They also intend to prevent any field tensions that could affect the lives of citizens.

Respect for the Right to Peaceful Expression

Conversely, the Lebanese Army affirmed its full respect for the freedom of expression and the right to peaceful demonstration. It considered this a constitutional right guaranteed to all.

The Army called on participants in the upcoming movements to exercise responsibility and adhere to laws and regulations. This ensures that opinions are expressed in a civilized manner.

The statement emphasized that the exercise of rights must take place within a framework that preserves general stability. Moreover, this should spare the country from any additional unrest during this sensitive phase.

National Call for Solidarity and Unity

The military institution renewed its call to all citizens to embrace the spirit of unity and solidarity. This will help face the current challenges Lebanon is passing through.

The Army confirmed that this delicate phase requires prioritizing the supreme national interest. Everyone must work together to overcome the dangers facing the country.

The statement concluded by affirming that the cooperation of citizens with official institutions and adherence to the law represent the foundation for maintaining stability. Meanwhile, the Army pledged to continue protecting security across all Lebanese regions.
