Berlin, Germany – The German Interior Minister warned of the growing risks associated with the use of drones, emphasizing that the rapid development of these technologies poses new security challenges. These challenges necessitate enhanced protection measures for vital facilities, constitutional bodies, and sensitive state institutions.

The minister explained that drones are becoming more widespread and capable of reaching locations difficult to secure using traditional methods, requiring the development of monitoring and jamming systems. Furthermore, any potential threat targeting government facilities or critical infrastructure must be addressed swiftly.

He noted that German security authorities are closely monitoring developments related to the use of these technologies, pointing out that some extremist groups or criminal networks might seek to exploit drones in activities that threaten public safety or disrupt the work of official institutions.

The minister stressed the need to update legal and regulatory frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. He also emphasized the importance of providing security agencies with the necessary tools to address new threats, while simultaneously maintaining a balance between security and civil liberties.

These warnings come at a time when many European countries are conducting comprehensive reviews of their drone security strategies, particularly following their increasing use in civilian, commercial, and military sectors. This is accompanied by challenges related to protecting airspace and national security.

Security experts believe that strengthening early detection capabilities and anti-drone defense systems has become an urgent necessity in light of rapid technological advancements. Experts also emphasized that protecting constitutional institutions and government buildings requires additional investments and greater coordination between security agencies and relevant authorities.

The German government continues to explore new measures aimed at raising the level of security preparedness and developing modern protection methods. This ensures the ability to counter potential threats and maintain the security and stability of state institutions.
