Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has threatened dissidents living abroad, asserting that they “will not escape the fires they ignite,” in a lengthy statement addressing what it described as the “comprehensive war” Iran has been facing since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The ministry stated, in a statement published by the Iranian news agency Mehr, that the United States and Israel
are waging a multifaceted war against Tehran, encompassing military, security, economic, and media pressures.
It also asserted that Iranian security agencies have successfully thwarted “plots and coups” in recent years.
Accusations of inciting chaos
Iranian intelligence accused its adversaries of seeking to exploit the economic crisis and rising prices to incite social unrest within the country,
as well as “stirring up ethnic and religious strife” and undermining national unity.
The statement added that “enemies” are working to carry out sabotage and terrorist operations
through groups linked to foreign powers, particularly in the northwestern and southeastern border regions of Iran.
It noted that security forces have managed to thwart a number of these plots.
The ministry emphasized that the smuggling of weapons and illegal communication equipment,
especially the Starlink service, represents one of the most significant current security threats.
It also accused foreign entities of working to introduce communication equipment and light and medium weapons into Iran.
Attack on opposition media
The Iranian intelligence statement indicated that Iranian authorities had seized “thousands of weapons
and ammunition” in recent months, considering this evidence of organized attempts to destabilize the country.
The Ministry of Intelligence launched a sharp attack on Persian-language media outlets abroad,
including BBC Persian and Voice of America, accusing them of participating in a “soft war” against Iran and gathering information for foreign entities.
The ministry emphasized that any activities deemed by the authorities to be “anti-security,”
whether through incitement, communication with foreign entities, or the execution of acts of sabotage,
will be met with strict security and legal measures both inside and outside Iran.
