Diplomatic consultations between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait have gained new momentum as the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to discuss ongoing regional developments. This communication comes amidst rapidly accelerating security challenges in the region, necessitating heightened consultation to ensure the stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
Gulf Coordination as a Pillar of Security
The two ministers focused their discussions on the criticality of continued coordination and consultation among GCC states, viewing collective Gulf action as the cornerstone for bolstering regional security. Both sides emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain the optimal pathways for addressing current issues, safeguarding the interests of the region’s peoples, and shielding them from the risks of military escalation or protracted crises. They stressed the necessity of working as a unified bloc to confront pressing political and security challenges.
Supporting Peaceful Solutions and International Law
The two sides reviewed regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, underscoring the need to intensify political initiatives aimed at solidifying security and stability. The ministers also reaffirmed the importance of respecting international law as a fundamental reference for interstate relations, while supporting peaceful solutions to resolve all conflicts. This call reflects the shared keenness of the UAE and Kuwait to unify Gulf positions on issues of common interest, working together to ensure peace, stability, and security across the region.
