New York, USA – Saudi Arabia’s representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, affirmed that the escalating unrest in the Strait of Hormuz is a source of grave global concern, given its direct repercussions on the stability of global energy and food markets.

International concern over the repercussions of the developments

The Saudi representative explained that the ongoing developments in the Strait of Hormuz have repercussions not only regionally but also significantly impact global energy markets and food supply chains. This, in turn, threatens the stability of the international economy.

The representative stressed that the current situation necessitates urgent international action to prevent further escalation in this strategic waterway. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining maritime security and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of supplies.

The importance of international sea lanes

The Saudi representative pointed out that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital maritime chokepoints. Therefore, any disruptions there have far-reaching consequences for the global economy. He added that this necessitates intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation of tensions.
