Obviously, by May 2026, Iran has decided to toss the ball entirely into the American court after presenting what it described as “final” proposals to end the conflict and open the door for a comprehensive political process. These statements reflect an Iranian desire to break the diplomatic “stalemate” that dominated the scene in recent weeks, placing Washington between two choices: accepting the initiatives or bearing the consequences of continued escalation.
“Final Initiatives”: Tehran Confirms Giving “Its Utmost”
Iranian officials clarified that their country has exhausted its diplomatic initiatives aimed at setting the ground for a ceasefire. Accordingly, Tehran considered the ongoing disputes over war-ending mechanisms and the terms of political and security settlements to be a result of the lack of a “clear response” from the U.S. side.
