Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump confirmed that his upcoming visit to China will be “excellent,” noting that he will meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping. This comes as part of efforts to strengthen dialogue between the two countries.

These statements come at a time of heightened diplomatic activity. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisset announced that he held talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. These talks addressed the ongoing arrangements for the upcoming summit in Beijing this May. The Secretary expressed his hope for a positive outcome from the meeting. The White House had previously announced the postponement of the visit, which was originally scheduled for late March, due to military developments related to Iran. This prompted the US administration to reassess its foreign policy priorities.

According to US officials, this visit is a strategic priority. This is due to its potential impact on a number of international issues, particularly the Iranian issue. It is estimated that any progress in relations with Beijing could influence how regional tensions are addressed.

In a related development, a senior US administration official stated that military confrontations between the United States and Iran have effectively ceased. He explained that this is part of arrangements related to the War Powers Resolution. He added that the two sides reached a ceasefire agreement that began on April 7th and was subsequently extended, with no clashes reported since. These developments reflect Washington’s efforts to contain the escalation and create a conducive environment for diplomatic action. This comes amidst growing domestic pressure to end tensions with Iran while maintaining US national security priorities.
