Manama, Bahrain – King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain affirmed his country’s categorical rejection of what he described as Iranian interference in its internal affairs. He emphasized the importance of national unity and preserving security and stability in the face of current challenges.
Accusations of foreign interference
In remarks carried by the Bahrain News Agency, Khalifa said that the “aggression” targeting the country’s security
and stability had exposed, in his words, “the duplicity of some parties who collaborated with the enemy.”
He also affirmed that “the nation is above all else.”
He added that the military was at its highest level of readiness to confront any threat.
At the same time, he indicated that a “small number” had collaborated with foreign entities,
deeming this an “unforgivable act of treason.”
The King stressed the necessity for Iran to cease its interference in the internal affairs of the Gulf states.
He also expressed his anger at the positions of some domestic parties who,
as he described them, had aligned themselves with those threatening the country’s security.
Issues of belonging and citizenship
He affirmed that public opinion in Bahrain stands united in confronting these challenges.
And he called for the removal of anyone proven to be involved in collaborating with the “aggression.”
He also emphasized that loyalty to the homeland is “a covenant
and pledge that is not open to compromise.”
He pointed out that citizenship is not merely a legal document, but a national and moral obligation,
explaining that anyone who violates this obligation “forfeits their right.”
He also called for strengthening cohesion between state institutions and society.
He stressed that the current stage requires responsible stances
that protect national principles and support internal stability.
He emphasized that freedom does not mean harming the security of the state or infringing upon its sovereignty.
