Kyiv, Ukraine – Naftogaz announced that Russia has carried out dozens of attacks on its facilities since the beginning of this year. This represents a new escalation targeting Ukraine’s vital energy sector.
Ongoing impacts on the energy sector
Sergei Koretsky stated that approximately 96 attacks targeted the company’s facilities during the first four months of 2026. These attacks resulted in repeated damage and partial disruption of production and supply operations.
In a statement published on social media, Koretsky added that each attack caused varying degrees of damage. He also noted that company teams are continuously working to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructure and restore operations.
These attacks come amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The energy sector is a key strategic target due to its direct impact on the economy, infrastructure, and essential services.
Rehabilitation and operational efforts
Kyiv is striving to maintain stable energy supplies despite repeated attacks. This comes at a time when the country relies heavily on its domestic infrastructure to meet internal demand, especially given the ongoing military tensions.
The company confirmed it is making intensive efforts to repair the damage and ensure continued operation. This is taking place amidst significant challenges related to the repeated targeting and the difficulty of carrying out maintenance in some affected areas.
This is part of a broader context of pressures facing Ukraine’s energy sector. Attacks on infrastructure have increased since the beginning of the year, raising concerns about long-term repercussions for the economy and internal stability.
