Washington, USA – Reuters, citing shipping sources, reported that two commercial vessels attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz reported being attacked while sailing in the area, in a new development that raises tensions in one of the world’s most important waterways. According to the sources, the two ships continued to report the incident via their established maritime communication systems, without providing further details so far about the nature of the attack, the extent of the damage, or who was responsible.

This development comes at a time of heightened anticipation in the region, with ongoing regional tensions impacting maritime traffic in the Arabian Gulf. Global energy markets rely heavily on the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz for the transport of oil and gas. As of yet, no official statements have been issued by Iranian or international authorities concerned with maritime security regarding the incident, while investigations into its details continue amidst intensive international monitoring.
