  • Prospects for Extending the Truce and Pursuing a Comprehensive, Lasting Agreement

Washington, USA – US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of conducting an official visit to Pakistan if a final agreement is successfully reached and signed with Iran regarding its nuclear file in Islamabad. Trump indicated that current talks with the Iranian side are showing significant progress, opening the door for a strategic shift in the region. Accordingly, the Iran nuclear deal represents the cornerstone of the US administration’s plan to calm international tensions and launch a new era of direct diplomacy.

US Optimism Over Negotiation Path and Consensus on Core Points

Speaking to reporters at the White House before departing for Nevada and Arizona, Trump explained that Iran has surprised observers by agreeing to “almost everything” within the proposed agreement terms. Obviously, this American optimism stems from a mutual desire to end the political stalemate, as ongoing negotiations aim to ensure Tehran abandons sensitive enrichment activities. As a result, the White House believes that reaching a near understanding will contribute to stabilizing energy markets and enhancing regional security, especially given the flexibility shown by negotiators from both sides.

Prospects for Extending the Truce and Pursuing a Comprehensive, Lasting Agreement

The US President noted that reaching a comprehensive and imminent agreement might eliminate the need to extend the current ceasefire with Iran. However, Trump emphasized that the extension option remains on the table as a precautionary measure if field conditions require it to ensure the safety of the negotiation process. Accordingly, the Iran nuclear deal reflects Washington’s desire to establish sustainable understandings that are not limited to the technical aspects of the nuclear program but extend to include the stability of the region as a whole under international auspices.
