  • Welcoming international de-escalation initiatives
  • Emphasizing the priority of a political solution

Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Egypt is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East region,

reiterating its condemnation of the attacks targeting the Gulf states and Jordan,

and stressing its categorical rejection of any infringement on the security and sovereignty of these countries,

in light of the ongoing military escalation in the region.

Intensive efforts to contain the crisis

The ministry explained that Cairo is exerting intensive diplomatic efforts, in coordination with regional

and international partners, to de-escalate the situation and prevent reaching a point of no return.

It affirmed that contacts with various stakeholders have continued in recent days,

seeking a comprehensive ceasefire that will halt the conflict and limit its spread,

thus sparing the region the risk of descending into widespread regional chaos.

Welcoming international de-escalation initiatives

Egypt welcomed all initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, and in this context commended Donald Trump’s statements

regarding ongoing communications to contain the crisis and halt plans to target energy facilities in Iran.

It considered this step an important opportunity that should be built upon to prioritize political

and diplomatic solutions and end the escalation.

Emphasizing the priority of a political solution

Egypt stressed the need to support efforts calling for dialogue and negotiation,

affirming that it will continue to work with international partners to keep communication channels open,

in order to contribute to protecting regional and international peace and security,

and preserving the resources of the region’s peoples in the face of

the increasing economic and trade repercussions of the crisis.
