Stockholm, Sweden – Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Denmark has been a steadfast and reliable partner of the United States.

US President Donald Trump should thank the Scandinavian nation instead of threatening to seize Greenland, according to Reuters.

Kristersson added, in a speech delivered during a defense conference in the Swedish town of Salen on Sunday,

The threatening rhetoric emanating from the US administration towards Denmark and Greenland is rightly met with sharp criticism.

Kristersson continued, “The United States should thank Denmark, which has been a very loyal ally over the years,” according to Bloomberg News.

The Sweden Prime Minister, for example, pointed out that more than 50 Danish soldiers had died. This occurred while they were fighting alongside the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan.
