The family of a prominent Pakistani official is demanding a search for their missing son amid mysterious circumstances in Karachi.
Details of the disappearance of the official in Karachi
The details in the application, which was seen by the local newspaper Dawn and addressed to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Uddo, stated that the young man, Fayaz Ahmad Gangi, an assistant director at the Nadra Authority and the youngest son of the applicant, Sohail Sanji, has been missing since 6:30 pm on Monday, July 20.
The family stated in their complaint that they tried repeatedly to contact him via his mobile phone, but it was switched off. When they contacted his colleagues at work, they reported that he left his office in the Aisha Manzil area around 6:00 PM on Monday, heading home. However, the family stated that he “never arrived home,” according to the complaint.
Security measures and urgent human rights demands
The family urged security authorities to quickly register an official report of his disappearance and intensify search efforts to find him. They emphasized that their son and the rest of the family have no disputes or animosity with anyone. In the same vein, Riaz Sohail, the missing official’s older brother, told Dawn newspaper that the family had formally submitted a request to the Inspector General of Sindh Police. The Inspector General then assigned the case and the investigation to the Chief Inspector General of Central Police, Imran Khan, to oversee the search.
For its part, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) issued a statement via its official X account (formerly Twitter), expressing its deep concern over the disappearance of Fayyaz Gangi. The statement noted that he is an employee of the Nadra Authority and the son of one of the commission’s board members, Sohail Sanji. The HRCP urged the Sindh provincial government to expedite its search and investigation efforts to ensure Mr. Gangi is found safe and sound as soon as possible. This comes amidst widespread media and human rights attention and anticipation of developments in this case in Karachi.
