Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced precision strikes on port facilities and infrastructure in Odesa and Chornomorsk along the Black Sea, escalating military pressure on Ukraine’s key maritime trade hubs.

Targeting Port Infrastructure and Military Shipments

According to Russian defense officials, the strikes were conducted using precision air- and ground-based weapons along with attack drones. Moscow claimed the operations hit facilities used for unloading and storing military equipment, fuel depots, and ammunition supply centers.

Russian statements added that several cargo vessels and bulk carriers docked or operating near the ports were targeted, claiming they were being utilized to deliver military hardware and supplies to Ukrainian armed forces.

Strategic Significance and Maritime Security Concerns

The ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk represent Ukraine’s most vital maritime outlets, playing a crucial role in agricultural exports and global grain distribution.

The strikes come amid intensified military engagements across the Black Sea, renewing international concerns regarding the safety of commercial shipping lanes and potential disruptions to global commodity markets and food security.

Escalating attacks on Black Sea port infrastructure and commercial shipping channels heighten operational risks for international maritime trade, posing direct threats to global food security and supply chain stability.
