Riyadh – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan issued a joint statement from Riyadh strongly condemning the continuation of Iranian attacks targeting their territories, citizens, and civilian infrastructure, framing the actions as blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter.

Clear Condemnation and Assertion of Self-Defense

The seven signatory nations emphasized that sustained attacks constitute explicit acts of aggression that directly jeopardize regional stability and international security, rejecting any actions that compromise their sovereignty or territorial integrity.

Crucially, the joint statement reaffirmed the inherent right of the seven nations to defend themselves, individually or collectively, under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, confirming their resolve to implement all necessary lawful measures to protect their populations, commercial shipping, and critical infrastructure.

Call for UN Security Council Intervention

The statement urged the UN Security Council to assume its global responsibilities by adopting an urgent resolution demanding an immediate cessation of Iranian military strikes and formally recognizing the affected nations’ right to self-defense.

The nations underscored that halting these attacks and safeguarding critical civilian facilities and maritime routes are indispensable steps to prevent further regional escalation, calling for decisive international action to restore peace and stability.

The unified GCC-Jordanian statement establishes a firm diplomatic and legal consensus across the region, laying the legal groundwork under UN Article 51 while pressing the international community for binding multilateral action.
