Farnborough, United Kingdom – The Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center, AMMROC, has entered a new phase of cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space through a memorandum of understanding. This MoU is aimed at exploring opportunities to enhance the maintenance, support and long-term operational sustainability of military aircraft across the UAE. Moreover, it covers the wider region.
The agreement was signed during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, held from July 20 to 24 at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre in Hampshire, United Kingdom. Furthermore, the event is recognised as one of the world’s three leading trade exhibitions for the aviation and defence industries.
The MoU was signed by Jassim Al Marzooqi, Chief Executive Officer of AMMROC, and Felipe San Martin, Vice President of C295 and MRTT Programme Services at Airbus Defence and Space. It took place in the presence of senior representatives from both organisations.
Certified Capabilities for Regional Operators
The partnership will explore the development of Airbus-certified maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities to support regional operators. Furthermore, it will strengthen the continuous support available for Airbus military platforms, including the C295 and A330 MRTT aircraft.
The proposed cooperation combines Airbus’ industrial, technical and engineering expertise with AMMROC’s established capabilities in heavy aircraft maintenance and airframe services. In addition, it includes component support and military fleet sustainment solutions.
Al Marzooqi said the agreement marked a new milestone in AMMROC’s efforts to expand its capabilities. It also deepens cooperation with leading global manufacturers in the aviation and defence sectors.
“Through our cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space, we aim to develop advanced support solutions, strengthen national capabilities within the aviation sector and continue delivering maintenance, repair and overhaul services in line with the highest international standards,” he said.“These efforts will enable us to meet the evolving requirements of our customers and contribute to enhancing the readiness of their fleets.”
Training and Local Manufacturing Opportunities
Potential areas of cooperation include access to Airbus’ technical and engineering expertise, specialised training services and internationally recognised standards. In addition, the parties will explore opportunities to manufacture selected aircraft components in the UAE.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen the UAE’s aviation industrial ecosystem and support the development of regional solutions focused on operational readiness and service quality. They also target the long-term sustainability of military fleets. Furthermore, the MoU reflects the commitment of both organisations to building a long-term partnership. This partnership supports the development of specialised aviation capabilities. It expands services available to regional operators. It also reinforces the UAE’s position as a leading regional hub for military aircraft maintenance, support and sustainment.
