Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump warned of a significant escalation in military retaliation against Iran, stating that any future Iranian attack on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz will trigger U.S. strikes on critical infrastructure, including power plants and bridges across Iran.

Direct Threat to Tehran’s Infrastructure

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that “from this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT”.

The U.S. President added that potential retaliation targets would include facilities and infrastructure “located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran”, marking a sharp escalation in rhetoric intended to deter attacks on commercial shipping in the vital maritime transit corridor.

Escalating Conflict and Global Shipping Concerns

Trump’s stern warnings come amid heightened military engagements across the Gulf region, where U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has carried out repeated strikes targeting Iranian military assets and weapons storage facilities following attacks on commercial vessels.

Defense analysts suggest that threatening civilian infrastructure marks a critical shift toward broader strategic targeting, raising international concern over the potential fallout on global energy supply chains and maritime trade stability.

Trump’s warning to destroy Iranian bridges and power plants signals a potential expansion of U.S. targeting parameters to include critical inland infrastructure if commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz remains under attack.
