Beirut, Lebanon – Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of the strategic Ali al-Tahir heights in Nabatieh Governorate, Southern Lebanon, on Monday, amid ongoing border tensions and military activity across the southern frontier.

Artillery Shelling Targets Strategic Heights

Field and local sources reported that Israeli artillery targeted the outer perimeter of the Ali al-Tahir heights and the surrounding area connecting Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Tebnit. No immediate casualties or material damages were reported as the rounds landed in open and wooded terrain.

The shelling coincided with reconnaissance drone flights over the eastern and central sectors of Southern Lebanon, as emergency services monitored the area to ensure civilian safety in nearby populated zones.

Operational and Humanitarian Implications in Nabatieh

Repeated military strikes near Nabatieh Governorate heighten local security concerns, delaying efforts to repair basic municipal infrastructure—including power grids, water networks, and roads—and complicating the return of displaced residents to border towns.

The Ali al-Tahir ridge represents a critical geographic asset due to its elevated overview of Nabatieh city and adjacent villages, making any localized shelling or military movement a focal point for regional security tracking.

The Ali al-Tahir heights hold a commanding position overlooking the city of Nabatieh and surrounding towns. Persistent artillery strikes across these elevated positions threaten local stability, impede civilian return, and delay essential infrastructure rehabilitation.
