Cairo, Egypt – Egypt strongly condemned the targeting of a UAE-flagged commercial tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.
It described the incident as a blatant and unacceptable attack and a clear violation of international law.
Egypt’s firm rejection
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement,
strongly condemned any acts targeting civilian vessels or obstructing navigation in vital waterways.
It emphasized that such practices constitute a violation of international norms
that guarantee the freedom and smooth flow of global trade.
Warning of serious repercussions
Cairo warned that targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz poses
a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.
Furthermore, it has negative repercussions for global energy security and international trade,
necessitating a firm international stance to halt these violations.
Full solidarity with the UAE
Egypt announced its full solidarity with the UAE, affirming its support
for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its security and national interests.
The statement emphasized that the security of the UAE is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
This comes in light of the close ties between the two countries,
and underscores Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to destabilize the Gulf states or undermine their security.
