Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the start of commercial operation of fully autonomous vehicles of the fourth level of autonomous driving.

This is part of his participation in Drift X 2025, the inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi Self-Moving Systems Week, organized by the Smart Self-Moving Systems Council.

In a move that is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region.

This operation represents the result of cooperation between the Integrated Transport Center, the Legislation Laboratory in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Committee for Supervising the Testing of Advanced Driving Systems in the Ministry of Interior, under the supervision of the Intelligent Self-Moving Systems Council, with the aim of supporting the safe and orderly commercial operation of advanced self-driving technologies in the emirate.

In line with the legislative and regulatory frameworks adopted in the UAE.

The Integrated Transport Center granted the first two operational permits to enable the commercial operation of fully autonomous vehicles.

WeRaid will carry out the trial operations in its first phase in cooperation with Uber and Tawasul.

While “Otogo – K2” implements its operations in cooperation with “Abologo-Baidu”.

This is after meeting all safety and operational readiness requirements, and passing a series of precise testing stages that included performance evaluation and sensor systems.

In addition to vehicle response in realistic traffic environments in Abu Dhabi.

As of October 2025, WeRaid self-taxis had covered more than 800,000 kilometers in Abu Dhabi.

Each vehicle performs up to 20 trips within 12 operating hours.

Within a network operated by WeRide and Uber, which is the largest commercial company in the Middle East, covering approximately 50% of the city’s urban area.

Since the second quarter of 2025, WeRaid has been conducting Level 4 operational tests in the first experiment of its kind in the region.

Reflecting its readiness to transition to full commercial operation of autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi.
