US military operations and the repercussions of the naval blockade
This significant market surge comes amidst ongoing intensive and stringent operations by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) to enforce the naval blockade imposed on Iran in vital waterways. Field military reports indicate that US naval forces have taken escalatory measures, including diverting approximately 68 commercial vessels and disabling three others. Additionally, boarding and inspection operations were conducted on two ships to ensure full compliance with the strict blockade measures.
Sharp decline in Iranian oil exports
Data from the energy analysis firm Kpler confirms that the deployment of more than 20 US warships to support and enforce the naval blockade has had a direct and profound impact on trade. This impact is reflected in a sharp and unprecedented decline in Iranian crude oil shipments, which have fallen to approximately one-seventh of their pre-crisis levels. This is contributing to the strangulation of Iranian funding sources and increasing pressure on global energy markets amid escalating regional tensions.
