Moscow, Russia — The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces will continue targeting ports, infrastructure, and maritime vessels supporting the Ukrainian armed forces. Russian officials stated that these operations aim to disrupt military supply lines and logistical support routes heading to Kyiv across the Black Sea.
The defense ministry highlighted the use of high-precision weapons and strike drones targeting fuel facilities and port infrastructure. These operations coincide with ongoing mutual strikes on critical infrastructure across the region.
Escalation in the Black Sea and Logistics Targeting
Russian strikes previously targeted cargo vessels and logistics facilities in key maritime locations, including the ports of Odesa and Yuzhny. Moscow maintains that these vessels were transporting military equipment to sustain Ukraine’s combat operations.
Conversely, Ukrainian forces continue deploying long-range attack drones targeting infrastructure deep inside Russian territory. Ukrainian strikes have focused primarily on oil refineries, fuel storage depots, and supply hubs to disrupt military logistics.
Military Restructuring and Unmanned Forces Leadership
As part of efforts to modernize its command structure, the Russian Defense Ministry appointed Lieutenant General Denis Lyamin as commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. This move establishes a dedicated command entity designed to integrate and expand drone operations across combat units.
The structural reorganization underscores the critical role of unmanned systems in tactical reconnaissance, direct strikes, and defensive maneuvers. Moscow aims to streamline operational coordination and enhance drone warfare capabilities across all military branches.
