Madrid, Spain – Arsenal have withdrawn from their pursuit of Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, after the London club’s management became convinced that the player will continue his career with the Royal team in the coming period.
The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Arsenal were considering making a substantial offer to sign Vinicius during the summer transfer window, taking advantage of the funds available after the Morgan Rodgers deal fell through. However, developments in the player’s contract renewal negotiations have led the club to reassess its position.
The newspaper added that negotiations between Real Madrid and Vinicius regarding a contract extension have been ongoing for some time, despite differences concerning financial matters. The player is reportedly seeking a salary close to €30 million annually.
Although no formal agreement has yet been reached, Arsenal officials are now convinced that the Brazilian international will sign a new contract with Real Madrid. This has led the English club to rule out the possibility of signing him.
She pointed out that Vinicius has not shown any desire to leave Real Madrid, nor have any indications been issued by him or those around him suggesting the possibility of embarking on a new experience away from the “Santiago Bernabeu”.
Given the difficulty of completing the deal, Arsenal began exploring other options to strengthen the wing position, with Frenchman Bradley Barcola emerging as one of the most prominent names being considered, in addition to continuing to monitor the situation of Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli.
