Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid have begun their move to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri from Manchester City, as part of the club’s plan to strengthen their midfield during the current summer transfer window.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Madrid had made initial contact with Manchester City to inquire about the possibility of signing Rodri, indicating that preliminary discussions had already begun between the two clubs regarding the potential transfer.

He added that Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, gave the green light to begin moving towards signing the Spanish international, in a remarkable shift compared to his previous stance, after reports had indicated that he was not convinced about concluding the deal.

Romano explained that Real Madrid is considering an offer exceeding €50 million, but negotiations appear complicated. This is due to Manchester City’s insistence on keeping the player and their desire to extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2027.

He indicated that Rodri does not mind the idea of returning to the Spanish League, as he expressed his willingness to embark on a new experience with Real Madrid, if the two clubs reach an agreement during the current transfer period.

Rodri is considered one of the most prominent midfielders in Europe in recent years. He is a key player for both Manchester City and the Spanish national team, which makes completing the deal a significant challenge for Real Madrid’s management.
