Beirut, Lebanon – The border areas in southern Lebanon witnessed a new escalation on Wednesday as Israeli forces carried out limited incursions into several towns, accompanied by artillery shelling and bombings, amid intensive drone activity in the region.
Reports indicated that Israeli military vehicles entered the vicinity of several border villages before redeploying, while Israeli artillery targeted elevated areas and the outskirts of southern towns with sporadic shelling, as security tensions continued along the border.
Israeli forces also carried out bombings and demolitions targeting buildings and facilities in several southern villages, resulting in plumes of smoke rising from the area. Meanwhile, drones continued to fly at low altitudes as part of reconnaissance and surveillance operations.
This escalation comes amid ongoing tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border, with repeated shelling and incursions, raising concerns about a wider conflict and its impact on stability in southern Lebanon in the coming period.
