Zurich, Switzerland – FIFA President Gianni Infantino was keen to send a message of support and praise to the Argentine national team, following their loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.
The Argentine national team fell in the final match with a score of 1-0 against Spain, settling for second place, after having held the title of the previous edition held in Qatar in 2022.
Infantino posted a message on his official Instagram account, saying: “What an amazing World Cup Argentina has delivered! A historic comeback and a fighting spirit that inspired millions and gave football fans around the world moments that will remain immortal”.
He continued: “Reaching the World Cup final again after winning the title in the previous edition confirms the level of excellence and consistency that this team possesses. Thank you for contributing to making this edition exceptional, and for fighting until the last moment with such great passion”.
