Washington, D.C. – Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the US President for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, stated that the Oval Office meeting between US President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun was “excellent, historic, and highly productive”, reflecting robust communication and shared strategic goals between Washington and Beirut.

Military Support and Economic Investment

Boulos explained that discussions centered on vital bilateral files, notably continuing US assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to uphold national sovereignty and security. He noted that President Trump expressed strong enthusiasm for encouraging American corporations to invest in Lebanon across multiple sectors to foster economic recovery.

Furthermore, the senior adviser confirmed that both leaders addressed the resumption of direct commercial flights between the US and Lebanon, noting that administrative and regulatory steps are currently underway to facilitate seamless travel and trade connectivity.

Framework Implementation and Regional Stability

Regarding regional security arrangements, Boulos highlighted that the implementation of the US-brokered framework agreement is progressing steadily. He underscored effective coordination aimed at ensuring long-term stability and maintaining ceasefire arrangements.

He added that high-level engagement between Washington and Beirut provides essential diplomatic and economic backing for Lebanese state institutions to restore stability and address core national priorities.

The Trump-Aoun meeting marks a pivotal moment in US-Lebanon relations, coupling military assistance for the Lebanese army with economic investment incentives and restored air connectivity to reinforce Lebanese state stability.
