Kyiv – Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday he hopes to achieve progress in talks regarding energy and grain shipments following his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump at the end of September.
Zelenskyy explained that Ukrainian and American negotiators remain in constant contact amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to revitalize negotiations over the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Ukrainian president highlighted ongoing communication between the Ukrainian and American sides, covering a range of files related to the war and its humanitarian and economic ramifications.
These contacts follow discussions conducted by Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with Russian and Ukrainian officials as part of US efforts to revive the diplomatic track.

Energy infrastructure and grain shipment issues top the list of files Zelenskyy hopes to advance, given the continuing war and the approaching winter.
Zelenskyy previously noted that potential talks between Russia and Ukraine could address protecting energy facilities and continuing grain exports, alongside other matters such as prisoner exchanges.

Zelenskyy is expected to meet Trump at the end of September amidst US efforts to find common ground paving the way for resumed negotiations.
