New Jersey, USA – Ferran Torres, the Spanish national team striker, was crowned the best player in the 2026 World Cup final, after leading his country to win the world title at the expense of Argentina.
Spain won the final by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the match held on Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium, adding their second title in history after their first victory in 2010.
The original time of the match ended in a goalless draw, before the confrontation extended to two extra periods to decide the identity of the champion.
Ferran Torres was the key to “La Roja’s” victory, after he scored the only goal of the match in the 106th minute with a perfect shot from inside the penalty area, giving his country the World Cup.
The Barcelona striker entered the match in the 62nd minute, coming on as a substitute for Mikel Oyarzabal, before making his decisive mark with the winning goal.
The match also saw the expulsion of Enzo Fernandez, a player for the Argentine national team, after he received his second yellow card in the 93rd minute, leaving his team to finish the match with ten players.
With this achievement, the Spanish national team raised its tally to two World Cup titles, after its first victory in the 2010 edition, while the Argentinian national team had to settle for second place after failing to retain the title.
