Dubai, UAE – New Zealander Ryan Fox won the 154th edition of the British Open Golf Championship. Which concluded, on Sunday, at the Royal Birkdale Club Stadium in Southport, England, in the fourth major “Grand Slam” tournament on the “DB World” golf tour calendar. Held under the slogan “The Race to Dubai,” he achieved his first major championship title in his professional career.
Fox finished the competition with 10 under par, after clinching the title with Birdie’s shot on the final hole. To score 1665 points, and advance to fifth place in the world rankings for the “Race to Dubai”, issued on Monday. With a total of 2042 points, he broke into the top ten.
This is Fox’s fifth win on the DB World Tour, and his first in a Grand Slam tournament. This is in his 29th participation in the Grand Slam tournaments, including ten participations in the British Open. He received a cash prize of $3.2 million.
The DB World Tour competitions conclude this season in the UAE. The Abu Dhabi Championship will be hosted at Yas Links Stadium from 5 to 8 November. With the participation of the top 70 players in the rankings, before the final tournament of the round is held at Jumeirah Real Estate Golf Club in Dubai during the period from 12 to 15 November. With the participation of the top 50 players in the “Race to Dubai” ranking.
