Paris, France – Real Madrid has put an end to the speculation surrounding its interest in signing Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. The club issued an official statement categorically denying any negotiations or intention to acquire the player at this time.
Recent reports have linked Real Madrid with a move for the World Cup winner as they look to bolster their midfield. Other reports have suggested that manager José Mourinho has given his approval for the transfer, sparking considerable debate within football circles.
Real Madrid confirmed in an official statement that they have not contacted the player or his club in any way. They also stated that they have not taken any direct or indirect steps to sign him.
The statement read: “In light of the information and statements that have recently circulated regarding Real Madrid’s interest in signing Enzo Fernandez, the club would like to confirm that it has not made any move to sign the player, nor does it intend to do so”.
The Spanish club emphasized its full appreciation for Enzo Fernandez’s potential. At the same time, it reaffirmed its deep respect for Chelsea and the institutional relationship between the two parties.
The statement added that the rumors circulating about the deal are baseless. It also emphasized that continuing to spread these allegations only serves to stir controversy and confuse the public. Furthermore, it causes unwarranted harm to the parties involved.
Enzo Fernandez is one of the most prominent midfielders in Europe. He joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Benfica for €121 million and is under contract until the summer of 2032.
