In contrast, the journey of Germany, Sweden, South Africa, the Netherlands, Japan, Ivory Coast and Ecuador came to an end, after they were eliminated from the tournament in the round of 32.
With nine matches remaining, the competition intensifies among 18 teams to secure the nine remaining spots in the round of 16, as each team strives to continue its journey in the World Cup.
