Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian forces had carried out a second attack targeting an oil refinery in Russia’s Ufa region. This comes as part of military operations that Kyiv says are targeting infrastructure supporting Russian military and logistical capabilities.
Zelensky confirmed that the strike is part of a Ukrainian strategy aimed at reducing Moscow’s ability to supply its forces with fuel. He indicated that targeting oil facilities and industrial centers linked to the Russian war effort is part of Ukraine’s defense plan in response to ongoing military operations.
The Ufa region, located in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, is home to important industrial and oil facilities. This makes it a strategically significant target given the escalating long-range attacks launched by Ukraine into Russian territory.
Russian authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing the extent of the damage or casualties resulting from the attack. Moscow has, however, routinely announced that its air defenses have intercepted numerous drones targeting vital installations within Russia.
Recently, there has been a marked escalation in attacks between Russia and Ukraine, with an increasing number of energy facilities and infrastructure being targeted. Meanwhile, military clashes continue on multiple fronts, with no signs of an imminent political settlement to end the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
