Norwegian Erling Haaland, Manchester City striker, bid farewell to his Spanish coach Pep Guardiola with a touching message, following the end of the latter’s journey with the Sky Blues after a 10-year trip inside the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland posted a message on his official Instagram account, in which he praised the great impact that Guardiola had on his personal career and on the history of the English club.
Haaland said: “A coach who never stopped learning, it may sound crazy, but you made greatness look normal”.
He added: “Even after scoring hat-tricks, achieving victories and winning titles, there was always a new lesson, a new challenge, and a higher level to reach. This mentality changed Manchester City forever, and it changed me too”.
The Norwegian striker concluded his message by saying: “It was the honor of a lifetime to work with the best… Thank you for everything”.
Guardiola brought his Manchester City career to a close with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the final round of the English Premier League.
City finished the season in second place in the league table, seven points behind champions Arsenal, while winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup titles during the current season.
Manchester City, under Guardiola’s leadership, have played 60 matches this season, achieving 40 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses.
The Spanish coach’s total number of matches with Manchester City reached 593, during which he achieved 423 wins, compared to 77 draws and 93 losses.
