Pamplona, Spain – Atletico Madrid achieved an important victory over their host Osasuna with a score of 2-1, in the match that brought them together on Tuesday evening at the “El Sadar” stadium, as part of the 36th round of the Spanish League.
Los Rojiblancos imposed their control over the course of the match, and succeeded in translating their superiority early on after Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving his team the lead in the first half.
In the second half, Atletico Madrid continued their attacking pressure, with Alexander Sorloth scoring the second goal in the 71st minute, confirming the visitors’ superiority and their approach to winning the match points.
The 79th minute saw a relative complication of the match after Atletico Madrid player Marcos Llorente was sent off, leaving his team to finish the final minutes with ten players.
Osasuna took advantage of the numerical disadvantage and managed to score a goal to reduce the deficit through Kike Barja in the first minute of stoppage time, but the goal was not enough to avoid defeat.
With this victory, Atletico Madrid raised its tally to 66 points in fourth place in the Spanish League standings, while Osasuna’s tally remained frozen at 42 points in 11th place.
