Rome, Italy – The Italian capital, Rome, hosted a meeting of the “Global Alliance for a Two-State Solution,” with the participation of representatives from dozens of countries and international organizations,
as part of efforts to revive the Middle East peace process and push international efforts
towards implementing the two-state solution as the way to achieve a just and lasting peace.
Translating commitments into practical steps
During the meeting, participants discussed mechanisms for translating political commitments into practical steps,
as well as ways to enhance international support for the Palestinian Authority
and create the appropriate conditions for resuming negotiations
between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, thereby contributing to achieving security and stability in the region.
The participants emphasized the importance of continued coordination
among partner countries and intensifying diplomatic efforts in the coming period.
Expanded ministerial meeting
This comes ahead of a broader ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York,
aimed at building on the outcomes of the Rome meeting and strengthening
international momentum in support of the two-state solution.
Participants stressed that a political settlement based on the two-state solution
remains the most realistic option for ending the conflict,
calling for a de-escalation of tensions and support for efforts to achieve stability,
thereby guaranteeing the rights of the Palestinian people and enhancing the prospects for peace in the region.
