Islamabad, Pakistan – Five Pakistani policemen were killed and others were injured in an armed attack targeting a security patrol in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan,
in the latest episode of escalating security tensions in the border regions.
Deaths and injuries
Pakistan authorities stated that gunmen opened fire on the security force
while it was carrying out a field mission, resulting in deaths and injuries, before the attackers fled.
Security forces imposed a wide security cordon around the site of the attack
and began combing operations to track down those involved.
