Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Press reports revealed that the Saudi Football Federation has reached a final agreement with Greek coach Georgios Donis, the current manager of Al-Khaleej team, to take over the coaching of the Saudi national team, succeeding Frenchman Hervé Renard.
Renard had announced his departure from coaching the “Green” team a few months before the start of the 2026 World Cup, which prompted the federation to move quickly to resolve the issue of the new technical director.
According to what was reported by the newspaper “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat” on Friday, all the details have been agreed upon between the two parties, and the official announcement will be made within the next two days, after the completion of the final procedures and the signing of the contracts.
Donis is expected to begin his duties with the Saudi national team starting on May 22, following the end of the football season on the 21st of the same month, becoming the 60th coach in the history of the “Green Falcons”.
