Wolverhampton, Liverpool – Liverpool secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Friday night, in a Round of 16 match.

The match came just days after Liverpool’s loss to Wolverhampton in the English Premier League, allowing the Reds to quickly redeem themselves and snatch a ticket to the next round.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, despite mutual attempts by both teams, before Liverpool managed to impose their control during the second half.

Andy Robertson opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 50th minute, after he unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that found the back of the net of the home team.

Only a few minutes passed before Egyptian star Mohamed Salah strengthened his team’s lead with the second goal in the 53rd minute, after a perfect cross from Robertson which he met with a direct shot into the goal, continuing his brilliance against Wolverhampton after also scoring against them during the last league encounter.

Curtis Jones added Liverpool’s third goal in the 75th minute, minutes after Mohamed Salah left the field in the 69th minute.

In stoppage time, Hwang Hee-chan managed to score a consolation goal for Wolverhampton in the 91st minute, but the match ended with Liverpool winning 3-1.

With this victory, Liverpool becomes the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this season.
