Washington, DC – The United States announced its intention to lift the ban on livestock imports from Mexico, a move aimed at restoring the flow of agricultural trade between the two countries, following a review of animal health and safety measures.

US authorities confirmed that the decision comes after a comprehensive assessment of the measures taken by Mexican authorities to combat animal diseases and strengthen veterinary oversight, ensuring compliance with the required safety standards for resuming imports.

Lifting the ban is expected to support livestock and meat markets, ease pressure on supply chains, and strengthen trade cooperation between Washington and Mexico City in the agricultural sector.

The livestock sector is one of the most important areas of trade between the United States and Mexico, given the close economic ties between the two countries. Authorities continue to monitor the health situation to ensure the continuation of trade without compromising biosecurity standards and product safety.
