Manila, Philippines – A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck parts of the southern Philippines today. The quake was felt by residents in several cities near the epicenter, causing some concern among the population.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that the quake occurred in a seismically active region of the southern Philippines. The institute also confirmed that there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage so far.
The Philippines is one of the countries located on the “Ring of Fire” in the Pacific Ocean. This is an area known for its abundance of seismic and volcanic activity. For this reason, the Philippines is vulnerable to frequent earthquakes from time to time.
In the same context, there are calls for residents to be cautious in anticipation of any possible aftershocks in the coming hours. However, no tsunami warnings were issued.
