Tel Aviv, Israel – Israel’s Channel 13 reported that the director of the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), David Zinni, issued stern warnings to senior Israeli officials about attempts led by Iran and other countries to interfere in the upcoming Israeli elections. Amid growing security concerns about the influence of foreign parties on the course of the electoral process, Zinni informed officials that foreign entities are seeking to undermine electoral stability, without the media report clarifying the nature of those attempts or the actual mechanisms through which they seek to influence the voting results.
Israel is scheduled to hold national elections on October 27, amid heightened security alerts and repeated warnings from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) regarding potential external threats. In assessing the risks, Zini emphasized that countering these attempts at foreign interference is at the top of the security establishment’s agenda, stating that it is the second most “worrying” and important issue for Israel, surpassed in severity only by the ongoing threats of major terrorist attacks. This reflects the sensitivity of the upcoming election period in the Jewish state.
