Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian capital, Amman, is hosting intensive Arab diplomatic activity today, Monday, June 22, 2026. Arab foreign ministers are holding a consultative meeting at the invitation of Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi.
The meeting comes within the framework of efforts to strengthen joint Arab action. It also aims to coordinate positions on current regional challenges that require close coordination and an in-depth exchange of views.
Resumed session of the Arab League Council
Following the consultative meeting, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will host the 165th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, in its resumed session.
This session is a continuation of the Council’s work that began on March 29, 2016, under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The agenda will address a range of political and security issues of common interest, as well as matters requiring a unified Arab stance in light of the rapidly evolving situation in the region.
Egyptian participation
In the context of these diplomatic moves, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati headed to Amman on Monday morning to participate in these ministerial meetings.
Minister Abdel Ati is expected to contribute effectively to the ongoing discussions on regional files. It will also emphasize Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting regional stability and enhancing Arab solidarity.
In addition to participating in group sessions, Minister Abdel-Aty is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the Arab foreign ministries.
These meetings will focus on exploring ways to enhance bilateral relations between Egypt and its sister Arab states. They will also include exchanging views and coordinating efforts on key international issues that intersect with Arab national security interests. This will ensure the formulation of a shared vision that contributes to resolving current crises.
These meetings in Amman reflect the Arab states’ commitment to activating mechanisms for collective action and seeking diplomatic solutions to the complex crises facing the region. This comes at a time when Arab unity is increasingly needed to confront the political, security, and economic challenges posed by rapid international changes. It is expected that these meetings will produce outcomes that strengthen Arab coordination on key issues at the regional and international levels.
