  • International reactions: Warnings of a global clash

Washington, USA – The United States beat the drums of war in the Caribbean region at the start of the new year, launching an air and sea raid targeting two boats, resulting in the death of five people.

This coincides with “violent” political and military measures aimed

at overthrowing the government of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

On the ground: A deadly raid in Caribbean waters

The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) reported that its forces attacked two boats in the Caribbean Sea,

This is based on the allegation that they were involved in transporting illegal materials.

The statement confirmed the killing of “five terrorists” involved in drug trafficking,

three of them on the first boat and two on the second boat.

This operation comes in the context of Washington’s intensified

use of direct military force in the region in recent months.

Politically: “terrorist” designation and a comprehensive blockade

These developments on the ground are a direct result of recent escalatory decisions taken

by the administration of US President Donald Trump, which included a huge financial reward.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a reward of $50 million.

This is for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

The White House also designated the Venezuelan state leadership as a “foreign terrorist organization”.

Accusing her of stealing assets, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.

President Trump authorized the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)

to carry out covert operations to destabilize Caracas.

With a complete naval blockade imposed on oil tankers subject to sanctions.

International reactions: Warnings of a global clash

These moves have sparked widespread anger in Moscow,

where Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described what is happening

as a “deliberate escalation” that threatens international navigation.

For his part, Russian delegate Vasily Nebenzya argued

that Washington was using the “war on drugs” as a cover.

As a legal pretext to bolster its military forces in preparation for a larger intervention.

Maria Zakharova said that “Moscow is observing a continuous escalation around friendly Venezuela,

The unilateral nature of these decisions poses a threat to international maritime navigation.

As the Caribbean Sea turns into an open battleground, the world awaits what the coming days will bring.

This comes amid fears that the region could slide into

a direct military conflict that might extend to include international parties.
