Cairo, Egypt – More than 300 million people around the world are living under the yoke of extreme hunger, according to the World Food Programme. But behind these stark numbers lie the stories of young people fighting for survival amid harsh scenes of deprivation and food insecurity.

Gaza: Famine under bombardment

In Gaza, where the humanitarian tragedy intersects with daily bombardment, content creator Hussam Al-Khalidi recounts the loss of most of his family members. His daily journey to secure a drink of water or a piece of bread is another story of resilience. Yet, he didn’t give up, transforming his suffering into content that he shared with millions on social media platforms, becoming a living witness to an officially declared famine.

As for Yousef Abu Amireh, the young man who defied his disability, he launched an initiative to feed people in the besieged Gaza Strip. He proves that the spirit of youth can create hope even in the most difficult circumstances.

Sudan… Hunger Devours Dreams

In Sudan, exhausted by successive wars, doctors describe an even more dire scene. They speak of severe food and medicine shortages, and children sleeping on empty stomachs. Amid this catastrophe, young volunteers are trying to collect whatever food and medicine they can. They then distribute it to those in need, despite security risks and displacement conditions.

Yemen: A Journey in Search of a Bite

In Yemen, a country engulfed in war for years, its young people face a daily arduous journey in search of a living. In displacement camps, the young mother becomes a symbol of survival. She goes out in the morning to secure a meal for her children, while other young people stand in long lines waiting for aid.

Syria: Hope in the Heart of Suffering

In the Syrian province of Sweida, young people are trying to confront the economic blockade and lack of resources in innovative ways. They are doing so through initiatives to secure basic necessities and exchange food supplies between families. The scene reflects the youth’s ability to adapt despite the lack of prospects.

Youth…the fuel of steadfastness

From Gaza to Yemen, Sudan, and Syria, young people are emerging as the last line of defense against hunger and famine. They face death with patience and creativity, while the world is content with statements and promises. While governments juggle responsibilities, young people are writing their story of survival every day with an unbreakable will.

An invitation that cannot be postponed

It is time for the international community to move from rhetoric to action. Famine is no longer a local or temporary crisis, but a threat to entire generations, especially young people, who pay the heaviest price and prove every day that the will to live is stronger than death.
